Engram, one of the team's most experienced receivers on a team without much at the position, could be back early in the regular season, the bye week Sept. 28 at the latest, Holmgren said.
He is still expected to be on the final 53-man roster when it is set on Aug. 30.

Engram gained 18 yards on the play on which he was injured. He stayed in the game for a short time afterward.

"Injuries are a part of this thing and you deal with it," Holmgren said. "The young 'uns have to step up and play. We've said that already, and now they just have to do it for a while."

Also, defensive tackle Marcus Tubbs failed a physical and was officially terminated by the team, Holmgren said. Tubbs, the Seahawks' 2004 first-round pick, had a history of injuries and surgeryon both kneesand had not practiced in training camp. He was on the physically-unable-to-perform list.

Tubbs can be re-signed by the Seahawks but is also now a free agent and can sign with any team
